Translation Review

We use DeepL Pro for translating our English courses into other languages.
We want to ensure that translations are accurate so we need volunteers with fluency in the following languages to help us:

  1. French
  2. Spanish
  3. German
  4. Portuguese

Technical Editor

As a Technical Editor, you will refine course materials by reviewing sections, exercises, and content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and coherence.

Your role involves correcting grammatical errors, rectifying technical inaccuracies, and enhancing the overall quality of instructional content.

To excel as a Technical Editor, you should possess a solid grasp of the course subject matter and its associated terminology, though deep expertise is not required.

Example: If editing a course on Python programming, you should be well-versed in Python syntax and concepts but not necessarily a master of advanced programming paradigms.

Fluency in English, coupled with a strong command of grammar and technical writing conventions, is essential to ensure content is precise, accessible, and professionally polished.

Course Creator

As a course creator, you will be responsible for developing courses & exercises.

You can create courses on any topic you want but since we are a cyber-security focused platform, we would like to focus on the following areas:

  1. Artificial Intelligence
  2. Full-stack development
  3. Malware development
  4. Binary exploitation
  5. Reverse engineering
  6. Threat hunting
  7. Web hacking
  8. Network hacking
  9. Cloud Penetration Testing
  10. Mobile Penetration Testing
  11. Game Hacking
  12. Forensics & Anti-Forensics

Note: You don't need to be an expert in any field, we have three types of courses:

  1. Crash courses
  2. Foundations
  3. Masterclass

If you are a beginner, you can create a crash course on any topic you want but if you are an expert, you can create a masterclass course on any topic you want. If you are unsure how a course works, please see courses to learn more. Additionally, you can sign up to see how the content is structured in each course.

Ethical Review

As an Ethical Reviewer at Cyber Mounties, you will play a critical role in safeguarding the integrity of our cybersecurity training platform by meticulously evaluating course materials to ensure they adhere to the highest ethical standards.

Your responsibilities include identifying and addressing potential biases, factual inaccuracies, or unintended ethical consequences that could undermine the trustworthiness of our content.

This role demands a keen eye for detail and a commitment to fostering responsible learning within the global cybersecurity community.

Operating within the context of a Canadian-based platform, you will ensure that all content complies with Canadian legal frameworks, including privacy laws (such as PIPEDA), data protection regulations, and intellectual property statutes, while also considering international legal standards where relevant.

Your reviews will help maintain Cyber Mounties’ reputation as a leader in ethical cybersecurity education, ensuring our courses respect jurisdictional boundaries and promote lawful conduct.

Example: If a course delves into hacking techniques, you will verify that it clearly delineates ethical boundaries, emphasizes responsible application of skills, and underscores the necessity of lawful behavior to prevent misuse of knowledge.

For advanced topics, such as fine-tuning large language models (LLMs), exploring AI weaponization, developing malware, or mastering system exploitation, you will rigorously assess content to ensure it champions responsible innovation.

This involves confirming that materials explicitly discourage illegal activities, unethical practices, or reckless experimentation that could harm individuals or organizations. You will also evaluate whether courses provide sufficient context about the societal implications of these technologies, encouraging learners to prioritize accountability and ethical decision-making.

Success in this role requires a robust understanding of ethical principles, familiarity with the Canadian legal landscape, and a working knowledge of cybersecurity’s broader societal impacts. While expertise in every technical domain is not necessary, you should be comfortable engaging with topics like AI governance, data ethics, and privacy-by-design principles. Fluency in English and strong analytical skills are essential to articulate feedback clearly and constructively, ensuring our content is not only compliant but also inspirational, empowering learners to become ethical stewards in the cybersecurity field.
